Our next destination in Australia was Townsville, a charming city renowned for its stunning vistas along the Great Barrier Reef. Unfortunately, the beauty of the beaches was sadly overshadowed by the fact that it was jellyfish (stinger) season. The city has installed nets in small areas to keep out the jelly fish and allow for (mostly) safe swimming in what is otherwise a beautiful beach.
We took a ferry to Magnetic Island, where we enjoyed a hike at part of the island’s natural beauty. The next day after our outdoor adventure, we explored a glass beadmaking gallery, where Richard had the opportunity to try his skills at stretching glass to create a bead.
