On the Wine Trail…

Richard took to the road on the “wrong side of the street!”

After leaving Brisbane, we started our adventure on the wine trail of the Barossa Valley.   It is a beautiful valley with vineyards and wineries throughout.  We also had the opportunity to go behind the “cellar door” with a vintner we met on the ship.  He gave us the opportunity to taste wines right from the barrels.  It was a unique opportunity for all of us. .

The most unique winery that we visited was  d’Arenberg Cube.  Here is something about this unique cube.   “The idea to build the d’Arenberg Cube came to Chester Osborn in 2003. Inspired by the complexities and puzzles of winemaking, Chester created the idea of a cube-shaped building.  Each of the five levels have been carefully designed to entice and excite the senses, including features such as a wine sensory room, a virtual fermenter, a 360 degree video room, and many other tactile experiences.”  The winery is also known for its Dali exhibit.  “The monumental sculpture collection is a fitting celebration honoring the creations of an artist who continues to inspire and captivate the public around the world.”

Here we not only experienced the sense of taste with the wines, but we were also able to explore this crazy museum
