Glaciers in Chile, who knew!

After Antarctica we made our way to Patagonia on the southern coast of Chile for an incredible journey among the fjords and glaciers.  It was magnificent. This is what we learned:

“Chile holds one of the world’s largest concentrations of glaciers, primarily located in Patagonia, including the massive Northern and Southern Patagonian Ice Fields. Top glaciers for visitors include Grey, Serrano, Balmaceda, and the advancing Pío Xi (largest in the Southern Hemisphere) …”

We woke up early to see the sunrise over these spectacular ice fields and the ship was able to get up close and personal.  So close that we were able to see a few of the calving, with large chunks of ice falling off as they are melting.  Pictures barely do it justice!
