Tahiti is the most known island in French Polynesia. An “overseas collective” of France, French Polynesia is made up of 121 islands and atolls stretching across 1,200 miles of the south Pacific Ocean. Papeete, on the island of Tahiti is the vibrant heart of French Polynesia, you are immediately greeted by the intoxicating scent of tiare (white) flowers and the warm, salty breeze of the South Pacific, all with an air of French chic. Here we saw a vibrant city with hidden caves and waterfalls and visited a brand-new museum of the history of French Polynesia. Here is the home of some of the most beautiful black pearls and beautiful snorkeling and diving. With brilliant colors, amazing flowers, and peaks of the landscape of volcanoes, it was a true paradise.
Just a short sail away is the magnificent Bora Bora, the waters are every imaginable shade of blue. Often called the pearl of the Pacific, the island is centered around the jagged, iconic volcano. The true beauty of Bora Bora lies just beneath the surface of its clear, warm waters. Snorkeling here is a memorable experience; you are instantly surrounded by swirling clouds of butterflyfish, black tip reef sharks, and curious stingrays. We had the opportunity to snorkel where the majestic, huge manta rays swim. With a wingspan that can exceed 6 feet, they glide silently out of the murky water, appearing as if by magic. The final snorkeling site was at the coral gardens. Reachable only by boat, it is a reef beyond your imagination; a kaleidoscopic of colors where plants, fish, and streaming sunlight dance together in perfect harmony!
