Alaska – Seward & Anchorage

Time to reboard – this time with the family for a week.  But before we do that, spending some time touring on our own.  When someone mentions Alaska, you think Glaciers and bears (at least we did).  Boy, were we surprised – Alaska also has vast wilderness – green as far as the eye can see, Moose, Eagles (home to the largest population), Whales, Seals, Sea Lions, lots of fish – and yes, bears.

• Seward & Resurrection Bay: We marveled at Exit Glacier, sailed Resurrection Bay, navigated the waters of Kenai Fjords, and went rafting down a scenic river.
• Wildlife Encounters: Along with visiting the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center and the Alaska SeaLife Center, we experienced unforgettable moments in the wild—watching whales breach, bears chase and catch salmon, and even spotted a moose right by the roadside.
• Cultural History in Anchorage: At the Alaska Native Heritage Center, we gained a deeper understanding of the complex history of the land’s indigenous peoples. We also stopped by the Alaska Jewish Museum to learn the unique history of the Jewish community that settled in this remote frontier.
